The Canning Village Commission and the Municipality of the County of Kings would like to inform the public that the construction for upgrades to the water/sewer lines along the business section of the Main Street will begin late October to early November. During construction, the eastbound lane will be closed to traffic and there will be no parking available on the Main Street. Alternate parking areas are as follows: Bruce Spicer Park, behind Canning Library, United Baptist Church on North Avenue, Canning Fire Hall (at hall end of building away from fire doors) and the parking area by the Village office. Vehicles that are parked in work areas will be towed at owner’s expense. Please expect traffic delays and alternate driving routes during construction.
Residents are encouraged to use Chapel Road as an alternate route, keeping in mind that this road is used daily by walking students and pedestrians. Please drive at a safe speed and keep a watchful eye for pedestrians.
There will be water/sewer disruptions throughout construction and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Latest update (as of 1/11/2013):
The project is scheduled to begin November 4, 2013. Work will proceed from Pleasant Street to the Canada Post Office at 9796 Main Street. Work is expected to continue until mid-December. Traffic control will be in place, and drivers can expect delays due to construction.
