“Always a Warm Welcome” and some colourful graphics greet visitors and residents when they arrive at Canning Village. The new signs, located at the four entrances to the village (via Highway 358 and Highway 221 from both directions) are the result of some very dedicated efforts by the Canning and Area Business Development Association (CABDA), in a spirited partnership with The Village of Canning. Professional installation was performed by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal to insure sturdy, optimal placement of the four signs.
The work was made possible thanks to a grant from the Province of Nova Scotia and some tireless work by CABDA’s Branding Committee (Sandra Gunther, Kim MacQuarrie, June Granger, and chair, Michael Gabriel).
Since its inception in 2012, CABDA has achieved some visible results in helping to revitalise Canning, which include a bright new logo and tagline, the planting and maintenance of pretty floral planters, the design and printing of roadside banners, collectible postcards, and historical posters, the construction of hand-made wooden outdoor benches, and installation of bicycle racks throughout the village. These efforts represent a sense of renewed energy that’s capturing people’s attention and imagination, with creative new businesses opening and thriving, new home construction and renovations, and a contagious sense of pride in the community.
CABDA welcomes new members who have vision, and a desire to make a difference.
