Canning Library Annual Book, Bake, and Plant Sale

Canning Library Book, Bake, and Plant Sale

The Annual Book, Bake, and Plant Sale at Canning’s Merritt Gibson Memorial Library is scheduled for May 18, 2018, from 19 AM – 1 PM.

There will be so much to see and enjoy! We’ll have a huge variety of surplus books and magazines: fiction, non-fiction, lots of cookbooks, children’s storybooks — a bit of everything — all at great prices!   Our home-baked goods table will be full of deliciousness for you to savour with a coffee at the sale or take home for later. Speaking of delicious, we’ll also have barbecued hot dogs, burgers, vegan choices, fried onions, tea, coffee and cold drinks for sale.

Come see a wide array of interesting plants for sale this year, many of which are home grown by our dedicated library volunteers, including hibiscus, gardenia, weird tomato varieties, and Wayne Ward’s lilies for sale.   To further our fundraising effort, we’ll carry a wider variety of vegetables, annuals, and perennials from Oakview Farms.  Hopefully, there  will be enough to go around for all our shoppers this year!

Beneath the Boughs, Moon Tide Farms, Longspell Point Farm, Tap Root Farms, Hennigar’s Farm Market, and Blomidon Nurseries are also supporting the Library fundraiser this year with donations of plant materials and local plant experts available to answer your questions.

Come to browse, chat, and shop to music by the Pereaux Winds Ensemble.  Local palm and tea leaf reader extraordinaire Marilyn Rand will be offering readings for a donation to the library fund-raising effort. Your kids can receive a temporary tattoo or fingernail painting done by Breanna MacInnis and friends.  A loonie or toonie will go towards Breanna’s personal fundraiser.

Many other businesses have been instrumental in supporting the Canning Library Fundraiser by contributing to our second silent auction, off to a later start, but packed with beautiful items available for bidding at the library right now. Please feel free to stop in at the Canning Library during open hours or look at our Merritt Gibson Memorial Library Facebook page to view all the items and to place a bid.  Bidding has already been going strong.

Many thanks to The Landing Spa, Aspinall Pottery, Maple Leaf Home Hardware, ArtCan, Crystany’s Brasserie, The Farmhouse Inn, Golden Touch, and Lee’s Shop.

Please come out to shop and visit this May 19th, and support your local Canning Library!
