The Merritt Gibson Memorial Library is holding a number of fundraising events prior to our popular May long weekend Book, Plant, and Bake Sale on May 19th, 2018. The library is in planning stages of building upgrades including insulation and window installation.
Our Vesey’s campaign is currently offering a wide range of products including seeds, seed mats, annuals, perennials, bulbs, and live plant/bare roots. The 5 foot long by 17 inch seed mats are an easy quick way to fill in that awkward area in your yard with vigorous colourful growth, and are an excellent value, as they can be split up to cover many small areas. A Vesey’s catalogue is available at the library to help you select and some library members also have them and are collecting orders which all must be prepaid to the library. A few of our library members also are taking orders. Contact the library if you’d like to order with us this way.
The library is also holding a number of silent auctions as part of our fundraising efforts.Currently bidding has begun on an attractive and functional set of items donated by Jordan’s Home Furnishings, including a crushed glass nightlight, an unbreakable solar camping light, a ceramic mini-lamp with silk shade, and various kitchen serving and prep ware, as well as a hardcover book for holding recipes. This auction closes on the 24th March.
The new lot being offered for bidding will start on the 25th March, and includes a beautiful handmade large bowl created especially for this event by Aspinall Pottery, a collection of Arbonne cosmetics from The Landing Day Spa and Studio, art supplies from ArtCan and others, a bag and food vouchers from Wolfville Farmer’s Market, and a basket of culinary items from Farmer John’s.
The items can be seen at the library, on our library and heritage billboard beside the library, and on our Merritt Gibson/Canning Library Facebook page. Bidding can be done in person at the library, or by using messenger on our Merritt Gibson Memorial Library Facebook page, by emailing to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at 902-582-7699, or call 902-582-1958 where you can leave a message.
We also have a number of speakers for April and May including award winning lily cultivation expert Wayne Ward and Carol Goodwin of Beneath the Boughs Nursery who specializes in woodland and unusual species to present growing ideas. Dates of speakers will soon be announced.
