Canada Day festivities in Canning

So much fun and activity this year at Canning’s Farmhouse Inn B&B‘s Annual Canada Day celebration,  Crystany’s Brasserie, and ice cream emporium, i scream Ice Cream Shop!

This year was even more special in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday. Gracious hosts Lynn and Rod Eisener provided the delicious food and beverages (and cake!), musical entertainment, face-painting for kids (of all ages), and some fabulous door prizes. In spite of the rainy start to the event, with people huddling under the rain canopies that were thoughtfully provided, the many attendees enjoyed the warmth, energy, and spirits of the gathering at this beautiful inn located at 9757 Main Street in the heart of Canning Village. The Village’s town crier, Gary Long, gave a stirring speech commemorating Canada’s birthday, and presided over the festivities, announcing prize winners.

The newest business in town, i scream Ice Cream Shop, at its charming, renovated 9838 Main Street location, celebrated the day with its deliciously refreshing and colourful “Parliament Chill” special treat, available only on Canada Day. The rich vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberry special made for a very Canadian colour scheme and a yummy combination.

The Farmhouse Inn B&B was the focus of this year’s Canada Day celebrations in Canning Village as many vendors, artists, musicians, and the town crier to the event s festivities. Rod and Lynn Eisener, owners of the Farmhouse Inn, pulled out all the stops in this year’s celebration to feed and entertain throngs of visitors who enjoyed the fun, music, and many delicious treats on a gorgeous, sunny summer afternoon.

Canning’s Recreation Department staff were on hand to animate games and activities for the kids, and do some fantastic, creative face-painting for the littler ones. It was a fabulous three-hour event, complete with a score of delightful door-prizes offered by the many generous businesses in the Village and nearby communities.

Many thanks to the Eiseners and all the amazing, energetic co-organisers of this event who make Canning such a vibrant, wonderful, and fun place to live and visit!
